Job Description

The Opportunity

Responsible for ensuring the battery facility has the right production equipment to meet customer requirements, working closely with global cross-functional teams, vendors, customers, and partners. The role involves supporting the implementation of advanced technologies and establishing effective solutions within a new manufacturing environment.

PERSON PROFILE

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • To be the primary subject matter expert for a specific manufacturing process area and be the technical authority in process development, scale up and optimization
  • Lead the process design efforts, implementation, commissioning and ramp-up of manufacturing equipment and capability
  • Develop the manufacturing process, including the design, control strategy and risk mitigation activity for key areas of the end-to-end production process
  • Create machine specifications for next gen process equipment
  • Work closely with equipment vendors and technical partners to ensure the production process is delivered to target.
  • Conduct detailed process analysis and modelling to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and leadership to junior and mid-level engineers while driving strategic process improvements and technical excellence within the team and organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Expertise in ultrasonic and laser welding applications with the ability refine process conditions for next generation cell manufacturing.
  • Experience in implementing high-resolution vision systems, laser profilometers, and other inspection technologies for defect detection and process control in battery manufacturing.
  • Excellent understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental considerations for process design.
  • Excellent understanding of technical cleanliness requirements for Battery manufacturing industry.
  • Experience of delivering new manufacturing capability throughout the maturation lifecycle.
  • Experience of data analysis & excellent manufacturing problem solving skills.
  • Ability to strategically to define future requirements and capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of an organization.

Role Specific Qualifications/Certifications

  • Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Manufacturing).
  • Extensive experience in cell battery manufacturing in the Cell Assembly area as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer.
  • Experience in Battery equipment design, process development, commissioning and ramp up.
