Role Description This is a part-time, remote role for a Medical Billing & Coding Trainer. The trainer will design and deliver online lessons and workshops on medical billing and coding concepts, including medical terminology, coding standards, and payer requirements. Daily responsibilities include preparing training materials, lesson plans, and examples; conducting live or recorded sessions; evaluating learner performance; and providing constructive feedback. The role also involves creating assessments, staying current with regulatory and coding updates, and collaborating with the curriculum team to refine content. The trainer is expected to maintain clear communication with learners, support diverse learning styles, and help learners gain job-ready billing and coding skills.
Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology and the ability to explain clinical terms clearly to learners.
• Hands-on experience with ICD-10 coding and related coding standards in a healthcare billing or coding environment.
• Understanding of Insurance payer workflows, including commercial payers, and familiarity with Medicare rules and guidelines.
• Experience managing and resolving Denials, including root-cause analysis and strategies for prevention and appeal.
• Previous experience as a medical biller, coder, auditor, or trainer in a healthcare setting.
• Effective online teaching, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.
• Comfort with digital learning platforms, productivity tools, and remote collaboration technologies.
• Relevant certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) and a post-secondary education in a healthcare or related field preferred.
