Job Description
LOCATION : Corporate Office - Chennai, Annasalai
EXPERIENCE : 10 to 15 years
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology (Fire or Mechanical or Electrical) with minimum 10 years of experience in design review, installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of active and passive fire protection system OR
- Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) with 15 to 20 years of experience in design review, installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of active and passive fire protection system
JOB DESCRIPTION
- The Fire Safety Systems Manager will be responsible to ensure adequacy, suitability, quality, reliability and readiness of fire protection system throughout all MRF Plants.
- Perform adequacy study of fire protection system of all the plants in terms of practical requirement, regulatory requirement, fire code, design aspect, operationality, maintenance feasibility and reliability
- Establish and maintain SOP / Policy for selection, installation, commissioning, handover and maintenance of fire protection system in MRF considering local, national and international codes and best industrial practices
- Decide on best suited appliances appropriate for our industry, environmental condition, hazard, emergency protocol, operation and maintenance feasibility
- Support plants in finalizing Bill of Quantity, drawings, specifications, relevant certificates, OEM manuals, warranty certificates, preferred make for any fire protection system requirement
- Verify the design, engineering calculations and drawings for all fire protection system requirements from plant to ensure requirements of relevant standards are met
- Oversee fire protection system installation projects in plants to ensure quality of supplies and workmanship
- Collaborate with engineering team for the commissioning & testing of fire protection system to ensure reliability
- Assist plants to prepare inspection and maintenance calendar of fire system, oversee the implementation and monitor the effectiveness
- Audit and verify the maintenance documents including AMC related documents and follow up with plant team for the timely closure of issues if any
- Advice plants to create repository of firefighting equipment with their maintenance schedule and records
- Find solutions for long term issues and repetitive troubles in the existing fire protection system
- Develop methodology to measure uptime of firefighting system and achieve 100% uptime
- Bring digital solution for improved governance of the maintenance indicators and documentation
- Discover suitable solution for centralization of fire protection system at plant and corporate levels
- Drive process hazard analysis study such as HAZOP, HAZID, Dust Explosion Potential etc. through competent partners. Validate the findings and recommendations
- Drive the implementation of the finalized recommended actions coordinating with relevant stakeholders. Track the effectiveness of the implemented control measures
LINGUISTIC REQUIREMENTS : English, Hindi & Tamil
OTHER REQUIREMENTS :
- In-depth knowledge of fire codes and building regulations such as NBC Part 4, NBCS 2026 requirements, NFPA, FM Global and Indian Standard code of practice for designing, installation and maintenance of fire protection and detection system
- Hands-on expertise in design evaluation, hydraulic calculation of fire suppression system
- Proven ability in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex circuit faults related to fire alarm system
- Travel to all MRF plants across India
