About the Role

Medical Transcriptionist

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe dictated recordings from physicians, surgeons, and consultants including history & physical examinations, discharge summaries, operative notes, consultation reports, and diagnostic/radiology reports.
• Review and edit documents for grammatical accuracy, clarity, and consistency with medical terminology and hospital formatting standards.
• Interpret medical abbreviations, drug names, and specialty-specific terminology accurately.
• Maintain and update patient records in physical files and within the hospital’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
• Identify and flag inconsistencies, incomplete dictations, or discrepancies to the concerned physician for clarification.
• Ensure all documentation meets hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and patient confidentiality standards.
• Deliver completed reports within specified turnaround times.
• Uphold strict confidentiality of all patient information at all times

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Medical Transcription, Life Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred; Entry-level candidates with strong medical terminology training may also be considered.
• Certification in Medical Transcription (e.g., CMT) is a plus.
• Sound knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Excellent typing speed and accuracy (60+ WPM).
• Proficiency with transcription software and EHR/EMR systems.
• Strong listening skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under deadlines.
• Sound understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection standards.
