Position Description:Lead AI/ML Engineer to develop and deliver AI powered Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) solutions within a large-scale financial services environment. This role will focus on document classification, information extraction, and document understanding using OCR, NLP, Computer Vision, and Large Language Models.
This role is located at a client site in either Birmingham, AL, Knoxville, TN, Columbia, SC or Lafayette, LA.
Your Future Duties and Responsibilities: Lead AI/ML Engineer to develop and deliver AI powered Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) solutions within a large-scale financial services environment. This role will focus on document classification, information extraction, and document understanding using OCR, NLP, Computer Vision, and Large Language Models.The Lead AI/ML Engineer will work hands on with Python, Java, AI/ML frameworks, and AWS services to build scalable solutions and integrate AI capabilities through APIs and microservices. The role will also support model deployment, monitoring, MLOps, and CI/CD practices.As a technical lead, this individual will guide technical discussions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with business and technology teams to deliver reliable AI/ML solutions. Experience with mortgage, multifamily lending, commercial real estate, or broader financial services environments is highly valued.
Required Qualifications to be Successful in this Role:8+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years developing AI/ML solutionsStrong hands-on experience with Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), including document classification and information extractionExperience applying OCR, NLP, Computer Vision, and Large Language Models (LLMs) to document processing and understandingStrong development skills in Python and Java5+ years of hands-on AWS experience, particularly with services such as Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, Textract, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, and RDSExperience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit learn, Hugging Face, and LangChainExperience developing REST APIs and microservices using Spring Boot, FastAPI, or comparable frameworksHands on knowledge of MLOps, including model deployment, monitoring, versioning, and CI/CD pipelinesStrong understanding of scalable software development practices, design patterns, and Agile deliveryAbility to lead technical discussions and provide technical direction while remaining hands on with developmentExperience mentoring developers and collaborating with business, engineering, and technology stakeholdersFinancial services domain experience preferred, particularly in mortgage, multifamily lending, or commercial real estate (CRE)AWS AI/ML or AWS Cloud certification preferred
