Sr Engineer- Weld Shop

Key Responsibilities

Manage entire shift operations and ensure achievement of planned production targets.

Monitor welding shop performance, manpower deployment, machine availability and production output.

Handle and guide approximately 32 junior shop-floor manpower/operators.

Ensure adherence to defined welding process parameters, work instructions and company norms.

Monitor robotic MIG welding and robotic spot welding operations and support troubleshooting.

Identify, control and reduce welding defects through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Production Planning and other functions to resolve shop-floor issues.

Implement and monitor 4M Change Management (Man, Machine, Material and Method).

Support productivity improvement, quality improvement, cycle-time reduction and other continuous improvement activities.

Monitor process losses, rejection, rework and downtime and initiate corrective/preventive actions.

Ensure compliance with safety requirements, 5S and standard operating procedures.

Maintain required production records and support production reporting through SAP PP and other systems.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

Strong knowledge of welding shop processes and automotive/sheet-metal welding operations.

Hands-on knowledge of Robotic MIG Welding, preferably Panasonic robots.

Hands-on knowledge of Robotic Spot Welding, preferably FANUC robots.

Knowledge of robot operation, teaching/programming basics and troubleshooting.

Good understanding of welding defects and their causes, prevention and corrective actions.

Knowledge of welding parameters and process control.

Working knowledge of 4M Change Management.

Basic knowledge of SAP PP module and production-related transactions/processes.

Knowledge of productivity, quality and continuous improvement tools/activities.
