We are seeking a talented individual to join our Investments team at Mercer, a Marsh Business. This role will be based in Gurgaon. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Manager – Investments (Operational Due Diligence)

This role will be based in India and will work as an extension of the UK and US onshore teams, providing analytical and operational support to Mercer Sentinel’s Operational Risk Survey process. The role will have primary responsibility for managing the survey process end-to-end, including ownership of the question set, coordinating survey distribution, tracking and chasing responses, maintaining survey databases, and preparing reporting for onshore review.
The position will also support broader operational risk activities as required, including data validation, report preparation, maintenance of knowledge on operational risk frameworks, and production of supporting materials for the onshore team. The role will be highly data-driven and analytical, while remaining appropriate for someone earlier in their career with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
We will count on you to:
- Work as an extension of the UK and US onshore teams to support Operational Risk Surveys across key locations including the US, UK, Singapore, and Australia.
- Own and manage the Operational Risk Survey product, including:
- maintaining and reviewing the survey question set,
- coordinating survey rollouts,
- issuing questionnaires,
- tracking responses and following up with respondents,
- maintaining the survey database,
- preparing output and reporting for onshore review.
- Administer due diligence questionnaires to investment managers and ensure timely completion.
- Review survey responses and supporting documentation, flagging gaps, inconsistencies, or areas requiring follow-up.
- Prepare risk assessment materials and reporting outputs to support client delivery and onshore team review.
- Maintain working knowledge of operational risk frameworks across the Mercer universe of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, hedge funds, private equity, private debt, real estate, and infrastructure.
- Support broader operational risk assessment processes and other related team activities as required.
- Support the development and improvement of operational processes within Mercer’s ODD framework.
- Contribute to Mercer Sentinel’s intellectual capital through research, data analysis, and process enhancement.
- Provide additional support with data checks, dataset oversight, and production of various team materials as needed.
What you need to have:
- A bachelor's degree in economics, finance or other business-related areas with a high level of written content
- A professional qualification (Actuarial, ACA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent) would be preferred though not a requirement.
- 4+ Years of experience preferably in a risk-related role such as risk assessment, compliance, investment risk or investment consulting.
- Previous experience in operational risk analysis, fund administration, and or financial / portfolio accounting would be beneficial
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Takes ownership for work, always ensuring standards and deadlines are met and keeping others informed and up-to-date
- Works well under pressure, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, stakeholders and deliverables simultaneously; candidate may be expected to attend calls with US based asset managers couple of days in a week; responsibilities may stretch to taking calls with asset managers in other geographies including Pacific, UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia depending on the business requirements.
