Position OverviewThe Finance Systems Manager will own and support key technology platforms underlying the company's finance and accounting organization, with immediate involvement in a major ERP transformation.The position combines financial systems leadership with accounting knowledge, internal controls, reporting, and project execution. This individual will partner with internal stakeholders and external resources to translate business requirements into effective system configurations, migrate financial data, test functionality, and successfully transition users to new processes and technology.Beyond the initial systems transformation, the Manager will support additional business applications, financial reporting, systems governance, internal controls, audit requirements, and selected accounting activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Systems & ImplementationLead major finance systems initiatives from business requirements through configuration, testing, data conversion, deployment, and user adoptionTranslate accounting and operational requirements into practical system functionality and scalable workflowsCoordinate activities across internal departments and external implementation resourcesDevelop structured testing plans and work with users to validate new functionality prior to deploymentOversee the preparation, validation, and migration of financial data from legacy systemsServe as a finance-side systems expert and help employees transition to redesigned processes and technologySupport the implementation and integration of additional business applications as the company's technology environment evolvesControls & GovernanceEvaluate technology controls and help maintain an effective financial systems control environmentEstablish recurring procedures for reviewing system permissions and identifying inappropriate or conflicting accessMaintain appropriate segregation of duties across applications supporting finance and accountingCoordinate systems-related requests associated with internal control testing and external auditsMaintain documentation supporting technology and financial controlsAssist with remediation of identified control deficienciesReporting & AutomationDesign financial reports, dashboards, and recurring data outputs that improve visibility into business and accounting performanceRespond to specialized reporting requests and determine efficient methods for extracting and presenting financial informationIdentify opportunities to automate manual accounting activities and improve data reliabilityDevelop scalable reporting and systems processes as business requirements evolveAccounting & Cross-Functional SupportSupport selected portions of the monthly accounting close where systems knowledge and accounting expertise intersectPartner with accounting, finance, operations, technology, and other business functionsProvide additional support across the finance organization as neededContinuously evaluate the finance technology environment and recommend improvements to systems, controls, reporting, and workflows
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related disciplineApproximately 7+ years of experience spanning financial systems, accounting, IT audit, finance technology, or another systems-oriented finance functionDirect experience leading or owning at least one significant ERP implementation through the complete project lifecycleHands-on experience with modern ERP platforms and related financial systemsStrong understanding of accounting processes and how financial information flows through an ERP environmentExperience gathering business requirements and translating them into system configurations, workflows, or implementation plansFamiliarity with data migration, system testing, user acceptance testing, and implementation-readiness activitiesUnderstanding of financial systems controls, user access, segregation of duties, and audit requirementsStrong project-management and cross-functional communication skillsAbility to operate effectively between technical and accounting-oriented stakeholders
