Role Description The Mold Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Kanpur. This position involves designing of products & molds and tooling for polymer components, creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings, and preparing specifications for manufacturing. The Mold Designer will collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing customer requirements, selecting appropriate mold materials and components, optimizing designs for injection molding, and supporting troubleshooting of mold-related issues on the shop floor. The role also includes updating design documentation, maintaining design standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of mold design processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in mold-related disciplines, including Mold Design and practical understanding of molds and injection molding processes.
  • Experience in tooling design and design engineering, with the ability to create and interpret technical drawings and CAD models.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) and familiarity with CAM and CNC machining considerations is beneficial. If person has strong CAM experience than that will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of materials used in molds and polymer components, along with basic understanding of tolerances, fits, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool and Die, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to work on-site in Kanpur, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and manage multiple design tasks with attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to safety and quality in a manufacturing environment.
