The roleOur client, an award winning NYC MEP consultancy, is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to head up its mechanical discipline on major commercial and residential projects. You will set technical direction, own key client relationships and build the team around you. This is a leadership hire with a clear route to Associate or Principal.
What you will doLead the mechanical discipline across a portfolio of projects from concept to closeoutOwn senior client relationships with owners, developers and architectsSet system strategy and design standards: central plant, VRF, heat pumps, energy recovery and electrificationSign and seal drawings as Engineer of RecordLead QA/QC across the mechanical teamManage fees, budgets, resourcing and schedules across multiple projectsDrive decarbonization and Local Law 97 strategies for existing buildingsLead proposals, fee estimates and client presentations, and help win new workHire, mentor and develop engineers and designers
What you bringBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering6 to 10+ years of HVAC design experience at an MEP consulting firm, ideally in NYCPE license preferred (New York, or able to obtain NY reciprocity)Proven track record leading large projects and teamsExpert knowledge of NYC Mechanical Code, ASHRAE standards and NYC Energy Conservation CodeStrong client facing presence and business development experienceConfident with Revit based workflows and load calculation software xzbcwsv
Nice to haveLEED AP or Certified Passive House ConsultantExperience with energy modeling, audits and large retrofit or electrification projectsExisting client network across the NYC owner and developer market
What is on offerLeadership of the mechanical discipline at an award winning firmClear route to Associate or PrincipalInfluence on the firm’s technical direction and growthSalary: $130,000 to $160,000 base, up to $165,000 with a PE, plus bonus
